Users are able to trade options on Bitcoin & Ethereum

In a latest development it is good to hear that U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced that they unanimously approved digital currency-trading platform LedgerX for clearing derivatives.
Moreover LedgerX was initially planning to clear bitcoin options. A U.S. federally-regulated venue for derivative contracts actively settling in digital currencies opens the market to larger customer base.

It is seen as strong demand from institutions that earlier could not participate in the bitcoin market due to compliance restrictions against unregulated venues. It was also noted a desire for assets that aren't correlated with the broader stock market.
In addition the firm professionally plans to launch bitcoin options in early fall, and ethereum options within a few months. It would also mark the first federally supervised options venue for bitcoin.
The global users are excited to welcome a whole host of parties that traditionally have been very retail-oriented. It is also expected to be large asset managers to enter the space with result of the CFTC's approval.
It is also enumerated that CFTC noted that their division of Clearing and Risk also issued a letter exempting LedgerX from complying with certain Commission regulations due to LedgerX's fully-collateralized clearing model. Moreover the authorization does not constitute or imply a Commission endorsement of the use of digital currency generally, or bitcoin specifically- the CFTC said in a release.
The high demand for institutional grade investment products in this space is off the charts. The funds like digital asset fund are experiencing unprecedented demand from institutional investors and they require institutional-grade infrastructure. LedgerX also conveyed that the contracts are limited to professional traders and institutions, but those organizations could potentially in turn offer their own products for retail investors.

In conclusion it was slated that the CFTC approved LedgerX for clearing derivatives and the firm affirmed that it plans to provide bitcoin options in early fall.
